Recording at Hive Studio
Hive can offer several ways to record your music.
Each has their particular benefits,. Having three connected but acoustically isolated rooms sets us apart from all other studios in the region. The clarity and separation levels we can are previously unheard of.

Our microphone selection is second to none, with an array of the finest choices for any given need.

Neumann, Rode, Golden Age, Shure, Lauten Audio, AKG, Sennheiser, Audix, SE, Sontronics, and more.
We pride ourselves on the finest Microphone selection around.
Hive can also provide the entire backline if required, we house a superb selection of equipment and instruments.

We have a set fee for recording days, you can decide which process best fits your needs and budget.

The Day Rate is £235, which gets you 8 hours of the entire studio and Benj at the helm.
Times are flexible so that you get the exact session to suit you.
We can offer shorter drop in tracking sessions too, maybe you just need to put some vocals down, or a guitar track, or those drum grooves and chops you've been working on.

Our Mix and Mastering services are available at the day rate or per track.

We can also mix/edit/produce your self recorded tracks for you, giving you the benefit of our extensive and professional processing software and hardware.

Live Tracked Recording using only the Live Room.

The fastest way to track your songs, but gives minimum microphone separation, so is best for demos and rough tracking sessions before recording your actual masterpiece.

The whole band is set up in the Live room, using Baffles and Gobos we can retain some separation, but microphone spill will always be present.

A process has lead to many a great release.
If well rehearsed you can expect to track 4 songs and have a fast rough mix provided at the end or soon after, all in one day. Further time can of course be booked for more mixdown.

Live Tracked Recording using all three rooms.

Using three rooms enables us to capture crystal clear and isolated recordings of every instrument while retaining the live feel. Our three rooms look into each other and have ample return channels for monitoring your live performances.
With such microphone separation we will enjoy the optimum conditions for mixdown and production. There will be less editing and more mixing potential due to the clean tracking. Overdubs and multitracking is of course possible in this scenario, but the bulk of the tracking can be done simultaneously. We would typically have the drums in the drum booth, guitars and bass in the live room, and lead vocals in the vocal booth, although this can be arranged as per the session at hand. This is a great way to retain a thoroughly live feel but also keep the microphone isolation, meaning a cleaner and more articulate recording.

Entirely Multitracked Recording sesions.

Starting with the drums we track each instrument one by one, often using the premade live demo tracks as guides, or by recording rough guides simultaneously.
We can spend time focusing on each instrument one by one, building and layering the song. This is a more time consuming process but can reward us with optimised attention to detail, every part can be meticulously sculpted to 100% satisfaction, with absolutely clean and pure recordings.
If you are aiming at ultimate quality with less limit on time this is the one.
